This pelagic expedition was not as breezy as we would like and although we got good observations and numbers of Zino's Petrels and Desertas Petrels we missed a few storm petrels which were expected to be seen at this time of year, such as White-faced Storm Petrel and Wilson's Storm-petrel... Oh well, that is Birdwatching!
3rd July 2018 - 10 knots of northeast wind with NE waves up to 0.5 meters
6 Fea's Petrel Pterodroma feae/deserta - 4 on the way to the chumming position and 2 by the chum slick
3 Madeiran storm petrel Oceanodroma castro - 1 seen on the ride up
10 Yellow-legged Gull Larus michahellis
Lesser Black-backed gull Larus fuscus
Great Skua Stercorarius skua
3 Manx shearwater Puffinus puffinus puffinus - 1 on the ocean ride up to the chumming position
Loggerhead turtle Caretta caretta
4th July 2018 - Northeast wind up to 10 knots and waves from same direction up to 1 meter
3 Fea's Petrel Pterodroma feae/deserta - 1 on the way up
2 Zino's Petrel Pterodroma madeira - 1 on the way up and 1 on the way back
10 Common Tern Sterna hirundo - 6 on the way up

5th July 2018 - Northeast wind up to 13 knots and waves from NE up to 1.5 meters
3 Great Skua Stercorarius skua - 1 on the way up and 2 on the chum slick
2 Zino's Petrel Pterodroma madeira - both flew by the chum a few times and allowed perfect views
7 Manx shearwater Puffinus puffinus puffinus
22 Yellow-legged Gull Larus michahellis
Loggerhead turtle Caretta caretta
Cory's shearwater and Bulwer's Petrel were watched everyday.
