Dotterels have been recorded in Madeira in the last week though by their behavior they seemed very tired:

On the 19th September 2009 1 Dotterel Charadrius morinellus was seen by Conceição Ornelas and Manuel Biscoito on Santo da Serra golf course. The bird was standing still while the golf carts were passing close by.

Very interesting was a visit to Porto Santo on Aug. 23rd At Tanque Pond, where friend reported only a single Little Egret the week before, we found a Common Sandpiper, a Common Greenshank and a Green Sandpiper. We made sure that it wasn't a Solitary when observing it in flight.
