Another successful pelagic trip was run by Madeira Wind Birds, despite the not so comfortable sea conditions! It started with 20 knots of wind and 3 meters waves which got better on the following days but the aimed species were all there!
Another great pelagic with displays of dolphins and Storm-petrels. Finishing with a bully Great Skua.
Another Zino's Petrel Pelagic Expedition was run on the last 3 days and the highlight of it was the 1st record for South Polar Skua Stercorarius maccormicki for Madeira!
The 2nd Zino's Petrel Pelagic Expedition of 2011 has run successfully, with many seabirds observed at a close distance, even with rough sea!
On the 21st of May 2011 the group of Spanish birdwatchers who joined us on the first Zino's Petrel Pelagic Expedition of 2011 went to Porto Santo Island and on the golf course they observed a few interesting vagrant birds, from which the 2nd record of Honey Buzzard:
