Black Stork flying over Madeira

On the 10th of October 2007, around 4 pm Catarina has observed a Black Stork Ciconia nigra flying over Lugar de Baixo. Unfortunately the photographic camera was too far from the birdwatcher and so she could not managed to take a picture of this rare migrant to Madeira. Although it was flying high on the sky with strong east winds pushing it to the west side of the island, it was easily identified due to its size, extended neck silhouette with marked fingers on its black wings and to its white chest and belly.
