Description
Pallid swift when compared with Common and Plain swift presents a more brownish coloration and wider wings though the main differentiation is its white throat and chin.
Distribution
This species spreads all over the South of Europe, along the Mediterranean coasts and islands. It is also common in the South and Centre Portugal and in Madeira. These are winter migratory birds to Africa.
Habitat
Though it is normaly seen along the coast and in islands it can also use all types of open countryside habitats.
Breeding
In Madeira archipelago its breeding is confirmed only to Madeira island and it uses rock cavities to build its unlined nest. It has only one brood, between May and June, with 2 or 3 eggs.
