Mark Coller's seawatching report from 6th to 13th May 2013

Below is a seawatching report between the 6th and the 13th of May 2013 sent us by Mark Coller (UK). His base was Eden Mar Hotel in Lido area, near Ponta da Cruz, Funchal.

13th May from hotel balcony between 7:00 and 7:45 am

Possible Trumpeter Finch Bucanetes githagineus? a small sparrow sized bird flew over the hotel heading north east calling several times like a child's toy trumpet, I have seen and heard Trumpeter Finch before in the Canary islands and in Israel, The only other bird I have heard to make a sound like this is American Red Breasted Nuthatch !
Unless you can think of anything else then I am 99% sure it was a Trumpeter Finch.
